This training will review the science of reading and how it applies to the secondary ELA classroom. You will learn more about how to authentically integrate phonemic awareness, phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension on a regular basis.
Supporting our 6-12 ELL Students in Literacy With the number of ELL students growing on a consistent basis, it’s important to understand how to best support our ELLs in a traditional secondary ELA course. This session will provide guidance on the ADA and Title IX. Participants will understand who ADA applies to and how ADA interactive processes can support employees by providing assistance to obtain accommodations. In addition, the Title IX presentation will highlight "The Three R's" - Regulations, Responsibilities, and Rights! Research has shown that LGBTQ+ individuals experience poorer health outcomes when compared to their heterosexual counterparts. For many, working to create inclusive and supportive systems for our LGBTQ+ students start with understanding their complex and diverse needs and experiences. The training introduces individuals to key concepts and terminology pertaining to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, etc. (LGBTQ+) community, in order to promote greater understanding and awareness. Participants who attend and complete this session will receive an "All in for All Students" badge.
